Team History
M.A.D.E for Him, which stands for Music and Dance Excitment, is the Capital Baptist Church's Children's Ministry big events performing team. Though not officially named until this year, Pastor Josh has made it a high goal to bring music with high excellence during major events to kids. Children these days are definately into music and stage performers. Though there are a couple positive role models in music and stage for kids, it is mostly a spiritual void. Pastor Josh has sought to change this situation, even if just on one church's stage. His desire is to bring God's message and His timeless truths to the stage and through the music to the kids so that they will soak in these important and life saving truths instead of the garbage in secular kids media.
Year one, 2007, featured Skylar Leslie, Cristen Gauthier, and Kayla Mathison performing such songs as What If by Pure NRG and Big House by Audio Adrenaline. Another top song entitled the ABC Strategy was done utilizing cheerleader boards. In year two, 2008, Cristen and Skylar were back and new member Julia Dennis with songs like God of Wonders and Power in the Blood. The hit song in '08 was definately Superhero. In its third year, 2009, the group was finally given it's name and identity that continues to this day. Year three the team was made up of the singing and dance skills of Andrea Poston, Skylar Leslie, Sam Leslie, and Morgan Eldred. They performed the event's theme song, Kingdom of the Son as well as Hillsong Kids! song, I Believe in Jesus and two other well known worships songs, Mighty to Save and Friend of God. The chart toppers for the year were Pure NRG's songs, Pray and 360.
As we looked to 2010, only Skylar, now Glass as she got married this year, remains from the original group, but she is joined again by her brother, Sam who performed in 2009. New members Hannah Leich and Arielka Lorente made up the two other spots on the team.
Performing at this year's biggest children's event of the year, the team brought down the house with the following songs: Vast Voyage, Super Strong God, Here We Go Again, Are You Ready, Inside Out, and Rainbow. The addition of silly soxs was a new creative medium utilized this year in the team's performance. Four youth who remain with unknown identities faithfully sweated it out to bring this crazy and awesome addition to the show.
Of the current members Sam can still be seen on a regular basis in the children's ministry's weekly Sunday school live show, KidsTown Live!, every Sunday at 10:00am in the gym. Andrea makes occassional appearances and Arielka can be seen in the Wednesday night Spanish Awana program for children. Skylar is now living in Pennsylvania, but does occassionally make suprise visits when home visiting family on holidays.
Where are the former members now?
Skylar married Shawn Glass and now resides in Pennsylvania. It is unknown where Kayla is now. Julia still attends CBC and occassionally helps in children's ministry.
